CAMP Volunteers Wanted
The NSMDC Aboriginal Aquatic Resource and Oceans Management (AAROM), is looking for volunteers to join CAMP. CAMP is the Community Aquatic Monitoring Program where volunteer’s head out and test water temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen tests to help determine the health of local watersheds.
This is the second year the NSMDC AAROM has been partnering with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) on the CAMP program. Volunteers will monitor six sites within the Miramichi Watershed once a month. The CAMP program runs from May 5th until the fall.
Any one interested in taking part in the program will be provided with training. Training Dates are scheduled on May 19th in Tracadie-Sheila in French and English. Training will be held in Bathurst on May 25th. You will need rubber boots or need chest waders. If you enjoy the outdoors and have an interest in the protection of the water ecosystem, then you’re the perfect candidate to be a volunteer for the CAMP program.
