The Golden Hoop of Life

A Community of Hope

A handbook for caregivers of children ages 3 to 6 with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

Foreword

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder occurs in all cultures where alcohol is used. Research shows that peple affected with FASD will need constant structure, supervision and advocacy throughout their life. Their lives will touch the medical, social, educational, and often the legal sectors of society.

Caregivers are parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and teachers. An entire community must establish support and advocacy networks with families to help those affected by FASD to reach their potential through a range of interventions. With a holistic approach at the centre of a circle of support, the whole community can work effectively in bringing all the children to their potential. Addressing FASD is a great step in the healing and growth of any community.
