Title:
Strategic Aboriginal Skills Development and Training for Meaningful Employment in New Brunswick
The very core of this project is to meet the needs of clients that experience multiple barriers to employment. The project will focus on multi-barriered clients, such as youth, lone parents, and people with disabilities. The project will respond to their needs by providing essential skills straining to clients who have multiple barriers to entering the workforce thereby supporting clients to develop their essential skills. The project will provide targeted training to train people with multiple barriers on how to identify employment opportunities, apply for positions, and successfully complete the interview process. The project will also involve working with employers to identify potential opportunities and to support clients in overcoming their barriers to facilitate their employment.
AWDI (ASEP2)
Aboriginal Workforce Development of New Brunswick Inc. (AWDI) has been establishedto develop public-private partnerships that will provide Aboriginal people with the skills needed to participate in major developments such as energy, mining and natural resources.For 2009-2012, the corporation will focus on increasing Aboriginal employment in theenergy, natural resource and allied sectors, including construction, manufacturing andenvironmental technology. The training-to-employment approach includes a range ofprograms such as basic skills, literacy, academic upgrading, job-specific training andapprenticeships, as well as retention counselling and other human resource programs.
