Kineta Snyder – Bachelor of Health Science
My name is Kineta Snyder, I am from Eel River bar First nation in New Brunswick. I just completed a four-year Bachelor of Health Science degree in Respiratory Therapy at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia.
The respiratory therapy program at Dalhousie University is a three-year diploma program with the option to do an additional 4th year to complete the degree requirements. I am now currently working as a registered respiratory therapist at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Throughout university there are many ups and downs. There are academic challenges as well as personal challenges. Every bad grade or good grade can send you on an emotional rollercoaster but successful futures are created through hard work and perseverance. Stick to your studies as overwhelming as it can be at times. The most important advice I can pass on is, do not be afraid to ask for help with your academics if you are struggling. There is an abundance of resources out there to help you get through those tough times and the North Shore Micmac District Council has funding opportunities for tutoring. Take advantage of them.
I am happy to say that from the help of the NSMDC I am now pursuing my dream job and I cannot thank the NSMDC enough for all that they have done throughout my university career.
